Imagine a world without the Philippines
I have read an Inquirer news report that policemen in the cities of Caloocan, Malabon and Valenzuela are planning to install global positioning system in police cars in their fight against crime.
This is good news, except that the monitoring system, according to the report, will be hooked up to the laptop computer of the Navotas mayor “to enable him to personally monitor the whereabouts of each patrol car.”
One wonders how many police cars there are in the three cities for a mayor to be able to “personally monitor” each patrol car. Has the mayor got nothing better to do?
By the way, the GPS according to the report will also enable government officials to monitor whether or not their publicly-funded police cars are being used properly.
That is great!
How?
The GPS has a feature to determine if a mobile patrol unit’s engine is running or not. This way, policy officials will be able to monitor whether their men are wasting gas.
Wow! How does the GPS determine if the patrol car is in vehicular pursuit?
