Thick blanket of politicians’ posters

This scene may not be typically “Only in the Philippines,” but I thought I share it with you – if only to show the amount of waste that political candidates create during election.

On the pavement is a thick blanket of flyers and posters which are just dumped and stepped upon by passers-by.

Received the following photos last October from our friend, edd a. He emailed them on to friends with a note: “yep, ’twas the time before they dumped dirt in the pristine waters of manila bay, the jeepneys shorter and was faithful with original Jeep chassis, roads free of shadows cast by skyways and waterways unclogged and floods “wade-able”.

Very sad, isn’t it? And the streets were so clean too! Yes, Only in the Philippines!

It’s not all spam that we receive in our mailbox. From time to time, we are also rewarded with email gems by friends who find delight in sharing their finds. edd a and Bless S are two of them.

Here they are – photos of Old Manila courtesy of our friends. ~~I believe the original photos are preserved somewhere in museums in the Philippines~~ or elsewhere. Just received word from ea who said that the originals are part of an American archive. After WW2, nothing much left in the Philippines.
